I had the opportunity to ask one of the best academy players at Southampton (and in the Premier League) a couple of questions. This player is Tyler Dibling.
We all came across Tyler’s ability on the ball when we saw that viral video of his hat-trick against Newcastle U23s earlier this year, where he scored three identical goals!
He played at International level for England U16s in December 2021, only being 15 years old at the time.
Last season was truly amazing for Dibling, as he managed to score 8 goals and make 5 assists in 20 games (PL2 and U18PL), playing for Saints’ B & U18s side.
This season he’s played in 2 games for Saints U18s, scoring an incredible solo goal against Fulham on Saturday. On Tuesday he came off the bench during Saints’ B team 2-1 loss against Exeter in the Papa John’s Trophy.

SFC Blog: “You’ve been a Southampton player for 10 years, Tyler. How would you describe your time at the club?”
TD: “The 10 years or so I’ve been at the club have been amazing. From coming on trail [at] around 7 to now playing for Saints, and the opportunities I’ve been given… it’s been surreal.”
SFC Blog: “What are you aiming to achieve by the end of the season?”
TD: “You always wanna aim high with what you want to do every season, and for it’s the same as last season just to experience that first team game again. Would be quality [to] be a regular for [the] U23s and mainly just to enjoy my football which is what I’m doing now at Saints.”
SFC Blog: “How do you define your style of play?”
TD: “My style of play is dribbling and beating players, and I have a sense of entertainment in the way I play and think it’s enjoyable to watch.”
SFC Blog: “Who is are the players that inspire/inspired you the most?”
TD: “The players I look up to the most are Messi, Neymar, Hazard.”
