Jim Magilton – IFA Director

The Northern Ireland National Team midfielder stayed at Southampton for 3 seasons, making 131 appearances and scoring 13 goals. He joined from Oxford United at a fee of £600,000. One of his most memorable performances was in the home game against Tottenham in 1995, when he scored an amazing bullet of a goal that gave Southampton the win. He was always considered lethal when he was near the penalty area. Magilton left the club to join Sheffield Wednesday two seasons later at a fee of £1.6 million.


Hugh Fisher – FA Cup Winner (1976)

The Scottish midfielder spent an impressive 10 seasons of his football career playing for Saints, making 306 appearances and scoring 9 goals. Fisher was bought by club legend (manager at the time) Ted Bates MBE from Blackpool for a fee of £35,000. He played as a substitute in the famous 1976 FA Cup final against Manchester United, where Southampton brought home the trophy thanks to Bobby Stokes’ goal. He later joined Southport FC in 1977 as a player-manager, retiring from football three years later.


Nick Holmes – FA Cup Winner (1976)

The loyal Southampton-born midfielder stayed at Southampton for 15 seasons at the club, making 444 appearances and scoring 56 goals overall. He played in the 1976 FA Cup final against Manchester United, earning himself a gold medal at the end of the match and lifting the 95th edition FA Cup trophy. He retired in 1988 and became manager of Salisbury City in 2002.


Morgan Schneiderlin – Southampton FC Player of the Season (2013)

The French National Team midfielder stayed at Southampton for 9 seasons, making 257 appearances and scoring 15 goals in a red and white shirt. He was very known at Southampton for his skillful moves with the ball, which he demonstrated to great effect in one of the greatest Saints’ matches of all time: Saints 4-0 Newcastle in 2014. He was the scorer of the fourth and final goal of the game, delivered with excellent style, from 18 yards he managed to place the ball in an unreachable spot for the goalkeeper. The next season he joined Manchester United for a fee of £25 million.
